how were the boats found
The river washed the mud away and parts of the boat that had been lying in the mud for 3,500 years was uncovered.

Some people probably walked past the old boat and thought it was just bits of wood. Two young men realised the pieces of wood belonged to a very old boat. When Ted Wright was older he had a group of men help him dig the old boat out of the mud The pieces of the boat were so delicate they tried to dig the boat up with the mud still attached. Once the pieces were removed they were carefully washed to get ride of all the mud.

The boat is now in Hull museum so that it can be used to help us understand how people lived long ago.
